Dara Delancy is a child and adolescent psychologist and co-owner of Families Forward. She has been working in the Augusta area since 2006 when she completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia (currently Augusta University) in the Psychiatry and Pediatric Departments. Dr. Delancy received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. She received her Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree and Certificate in Organizational Concepts and Business Management from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Delancy completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Child and Adolescent Service Center in Canton, Ohio.
Dr. Delancy specializes in working with children/adolescents and their families to conquer anxiety disorders, such as Generalized Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, school refusal, Separation Anxiety, and Panic Disorder. She also uses cognitive behavioral strategies to treat behavioral concerns, depression, ADHD, and emotional regulation difficulties. Dr. Delancy has a passion working with children with dyslexia and other learning differences. She completes comprehensive evaluations to aid in identifying strengths and weaknesses as well as appropriate interventions. She’s had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including public schools, Montessori schools, inpatient facilities, outpatient facilities, community mental health agencies, private practice, and primary care medical settings. Dr. Delancy will ask the parent and child/adolescent to play an active role in creating a treatment plan that includes measurable goals.
